Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist

An orthopaedic clinical specialist (OCS) has received advanced education and is board-certified in the field of orthopaedics. Orthopaedics focuses on the musculoskeletal system, which includes your bones, joints, tendons, muscles, ligaments, and nerves. OCS credentialing is administered by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists, a division of American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). One of the requirements to be certified is spending 2000 clinic hours of direct patient care in the specialty area. Physical therapists who are an OCS have demonstrated their experience, knowledge, and commitment to providing superior care.

Less than 5% of physical therapists in the USA are certified as orthopaedic specialists by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists.
